What Torque Release Technique Is

Torque Release Technique, or TRT, is the primary technique we use at Infinite Chiropractic. It’s a specific, low-force approach built around the nervous system rather than around cracking joints.

Instead of manually twisting your spine, we use a handheld instrument called the Integrator. It delivers a light, precise impulse to one specific spot at one specific angle, and it does it identically every single time. No wind-up, no torque on the joint, no sound.

Most patients describe it as a gentle tap or a small click against the skin. That’s it. People routinely tell us afterward that they were braced for something that never came.

Why We Chose It

🎯 It’s specific
We adjust the exact segment that needs it, at the exact angle it needs, rather than moving a whole region and hoping the right piece responds.

🪶 It’s gentle enough for anyone
The same technique works for a newborn, a pregnant mama, a D1 athlete, and an eighty year old with osteoporosis. We change the force, not the approach.

🧠 It’s built around the nervous system
TRT was developed to reduce interference in the nervous system, which is exactly how we practice. The spine is how we get there, not the point itself.

🔁 It’s consistent
The Integrator delivers the same impulse every time, so your adjustment doesn’t vary based on who’s giving it or how their hands feel that day.

Dr. Nico Caponi, certified with Advanced Proficiency in Torque Release Technique

Plenty of chiropractors use an instrument. Far fewer have taken TRT to the level of Advanced Proficiency certification, and Dr. Nico is one of roughly 500 doctors worldwide who have.

That matters because with a low-force technique, precision is the whole game. A gentle adjustment delivered to the wrong segment is just a gentle tap. Knowing exactly where to go, and at what angle, is the part that takes years to develop.

“But I Like Getting Cracked”

We hear this one a lot, and it’s a fair thing to bring up.

That popping sound is gas releasing from the joint. It’s satisfying, and there’s nothing wrong with it, but it isn’t the measure of whether an adjustment worked. Plenty of loud adjustments accomplish very little, and plenty of silent ones change how a person moves for weeks.

What we’re after is a change in how your nervous system is functioning, and that doesn’t make a sound. Come in, try it, and judge it by how you feel and move over the following days rather than by the noise.

We also use other tools when they’re the right call. The ArthroStim and Activator both show up in our office depending on the patient and the problem, and Dr. Alex in particular excels in instrument adjusting.

Common Questions

Does it hurt?

No. It’s a light tap. Most patients are surprised by how little there is to it.

Is it as effective as manual adjusting?

In our hands, yes. TRT is what we’ve built the practice around, and it’s the technique we use on our own kids and on each other.

Who is it appropriate for?

Just about everyone. It’s gentle enough for newborns and for patients with osteoporosis or other conditions where manual adjusting isn’t a good idea, and specific enough for athletes.

I’ve never been adjusted before. Is this a good place to start?

It’s one of the gentlest introductions to chiropractic there is. A lot of our patients came to us specifically because they didn’t want to be twisted or cracked.
